The challenge
A large public university was running a heavily customized, multi-version-behind Moodle instance serving over 30,000 students. Page loads during peak enrollment and exam periods regularly exceeded 8 seconds, and the plugin ecosystem had drifted so far from upstream that routine security updates had stalled for over a year.
What we built
We audited the full plugin and theme stack, rebuilt the customizations that mattered against current Moodle APIs, and retired the ones that didn't. The upgrade path was staged across a mirrored environment so the live semester was never at risk, with load testing at each step against real enrollment traffic patterns.
